I have just aquired two new female platties, one orange mickey mouse, and a red wagtail. The reason i bought them was because my man (red wagtail) was starting to freak me out and trying to breed with the male Gouramis. (both male) So in desperation i drove to my favorite LFS and bought two platties as i said before. They are half as large as my male, so they are probably young, but my male is ignoring them completely! Is my male gay?(lol) or is it that the females are too young, or is it that the females are both late-blooming males?

please help.

he could have mated with them over night you wont know for a couple of weeks
i thought one of my male guppies wasn;t interested in breeding cos he didnt chase the girls like the others but watching the tank for hours he's sneaky he swims around under the plants and waits for a female to swim past then displays to them and mates them while the other males are up top fighting over the girls :) he's getting lots lmao ;)

you put pics...

lmao  I have had a similar situation a while back, all my females were heavily pregnant so my horny male ('super stud' father of at least 500 babies) tried to av a go at getting in with my old female pearl gourami - damn it was so funny!

Pics would be good.

They could well develop gonopodiums or they could simply be to young for the male to take notice.

my camera is down, but i am expierianced with livebearers and at the moment the anal fins deffinitly resemble females. no elongated rays.

the red wagtail female seems to like being by my large male but the male appears to ignore her! is he not interested or are they too young?
