Platys Getting Jiggy

In my kids tank I had a male platy whose lady had passed away a while ago. I recently put another two female platys in with him. The first day they were in he started to take an interest in one of them, and this has continued.

Tonight I walked into the room and saw the male sort of charge the female, then the female go underneath him and sort of shudder. Are they mating or just playing at it?

platys are prolific breeders, i've had them in every tank i have had, there very entertaining when in group, i have never noticed any 1 type of mateing behaviour - they seems to have lots, little fights then they make up, one follows then dismisses, rubbing, chasing, i even had a pair that floated up side down together - they weren't dead they'r so cute. If they are new together i would say they are just sussing each other out but i can almost guarantee you will see a bulgeing belly soon. Enjoy.

Both platys look fatter now Im trying to see the gravid spot, I think I can see it in the white one.
