Platys Breeding

I have had the below small tank and stock for about 4 months. In the last 2 weeks, one of the two Platy females stomach has swollen to a huge size (much larger than the male) to what looked like bursting point.

This has recently gone back down a bit in the last few days.

Am I right to assume that she has given birth but that the youngsters have been eaten very quickly?

If it's gone down a lot, then yes, I would assume she had them and they got eaten, or are hiding very well. If it's just gone down a little, and she just looks a little thinner, the fry may be positioning themselves to be born, thus she looks slightly thinner.
