How often would you give livebearers defrosted bloodworms? I also have a pair of dwarf cockatoo cichlids in there. I know platys prefer live or frozen live foods but is it ok to feed this every day, not always bloodworms but sometimes artemia, daphnia etc.

I feed my fish flakes 5 days out of the week and the other 2 i feed them frozen bloodworms just not next to each other. it keeps a routine out of their diet and can help them a ton.

I feed mine Live, Frozen, Or Freeze-dried food every other day, and have never seen any problems. I feed twice a day, so they get flakes in the morning and evening one day, and then flakes in the morning, and live, frozen, or freeze-dried foods in the evening. If you want to be really safe, I'd say every 3 days. You can alternate which days it is, and whether it's the morning or evening, just so it's not a schedule for them.

Make sure you do not overfeed on high-protein foods, because you can have bloating and constipation problems.

a safe routine is always flakes/granules/pellets 3 days a week, frozen or live 2 days a week, and a day of fasting, and a day of veggies each week...too much frozen/live could lead to bloating problems

no prob...for your information, most fish will eat a variety of veggies and some fruit - peas (most commonly accepted and used for constipation), cucumber, bananas (thanks wuv), lettuce, etc. there are a few topics on the forum discussing alternative types of food you might want to seek out if you're interested...
