Today I went out and bought 2 platies. 1 mickey mouse, the other was a sunrise or something. And I was wonderinf if it is normal to have very red gills? Like gills that are so red you can see them through the white. And also; after about 2 minutes with the platies in the tank. I noticed that one of my female guppies had a little itsy bitsy white fuzz right before her tail. IT is white, and like cotton. It is only the size of . that. I am hoping it will die down. I separated her immediately and treated the water with a very mild drop. What could it be? Fuzzy cotton? (like the disease lol)

Fuzz is likely to be fungus.

Red gills are not a good sign. The flesh of gills is normally pinkish, but red gills normally indicates some kind of ailment. What are you stats? Ammonia tends to burn the fish's gills before killing them. If you aren't sure what your stats are, do not add any more fish until you take care of your current fish and learn to measure your water stats. It's irresponsible.

I don't think the two issues are related, a cottony fungus wouldn't transmit and flare up so quickly. the fungus should be easy enough to treat, use Intepet No.8. I would check your water straight away and see if there's a problem ie a presence of Ammonia. Do you have any Ammo-Lock? -_-
