well livebeares do have a breeding dance, if the females is not intrested then she has signs saying go away and males are good at following these, well most of the time.

Some are more pushy though!

Pregnancy doesn't seem to stop the fish from mating. Your male may just be getting the hint that the female is not interested at the time.

hi,
if hes under an inch he will be a young male,
not that being young will stop a male trying, but yes some are more pushy than others,
which is a good thing as you would not want her harassed all the time. :good:

you have two questions to answer. if youve only just got your fish then its the case that your male platy is still making himself at home. do you really care whether hes gay if he is then another male and a few more females to balance the ratio out.

i had a dog once that would only try to mate with male dogs so homosexuality may exist in fish but if thats the case what harm is he doing, that is until you get another male (god help him) i would stick with the ones you got and see what happens then go from there

i only have the one male. i don't really mind if he was gay but was just wondering because i want to breed them ;)

I would just wait and see how things unfold. You may just have an immature male. Give him some time. Breeding does sound cool, but when you are trying to figure out where to put all the fry a couple months later, it's not so much fun as it is a job.

does he like madonna? have an earing on his right ear? what kind of clothes does he wear
