Platy With Cut

my platy has been sitting at the bottom of the tank for a while now, he comes out for food and whe i turn the light off, he swims about fine but today i noticed that he has a red splodge under his right side fin. i gave him 1ml of stress coat into the water to help speed up healing and reduce stress caused by it. what should i get to help prevent infection? should i use melafix or is there something else.
and hes happly swiming around ocationly and i gave him peas incause he had consterpation but i dont think he does.
and i know its a "he" because i know how to sex my platys if it was a female i would of thought pregnant.

first of all your tank is a bit overstcked i think

you should really have only one shoaling fish which should be at least 4+ preferbly 6+ in your tank

some may recommend no shoaling fish as they like the space to swim around!


if you are going to add anything if its for a cut i would add melafix
is he been picked on by any tankmates??

not been picked on, its a peace of bog wood ill have to shave the sharp point off. (then rince the end to get any dust off. he never stops playing hide and go seak... lol
and im getting a 100l tank soon as i know i got a few to many fish. all good water qualitys though, 10%watercange twice weekly.

sorry to double post but i think i should mix the current posts. close this post or dont reply because the platy has died in the space of about 10 mins from swiming to dead. all sighn look normal hes just not been getting the food for the past few feeds, maby this made him weak or somthing ill keep an eye on the rest of the fish.

and about the overstocked tank. yes it is.... but as of 10 mins ago my mum (im ony 14) said i can get a big tank, a 180l juwel rio one so the dwarf gourami and 2 colombian tetras will be moved when i get it and it has cycled for a month (or however long it takes).
