i have posted this in the emergency thread, but haven't received a response. sorry if i shouldn't be re-posting it here....

i recently cycled a new 20G tank and moved my 4 platys from their 5G tank into the 20G. one platy got over stressed in the move and after 2 days of being in the new tank she was visibly "smaller" and had a raised white patch near her tail fin.

her tail fin started to get 'ragged' and she swam face down and would still eat, but not with gusto sad.gif the other 3 platy are fine and have adapted very well to the move and the the water parameters have continually all checked out OK (of note : ammonia 0, nitrite 0).

i bought a fungal treatment manufactured by Aquarium Pharmaceuticals (Fungus Cure) http://cms.aquariumpharm.com:8080/resource...Powder_2975.pdf and am on the final day of treatment.

the sick platy has bounced back, has put on size again, her ragged fin is filling in and she is swimming and eating with energy again. the problem is that she still has the fungus spot on her tail. will this go away? or does this mean that the illness will come back once i put in my carbon filter tonight?

does anyone out there have any experience with this?

It will clear hopefully, but if it look's any worse either add a little tonix salt to the tank (platies are fine with salt but many other fish suffer) but you list for the 20G tank is fine.

If you cant shift it the best thing is to give a quick salt dip, add 30g of salt to 1 liter of water and place the platy in it for 30-60 seconds, now they will not like it and will float on the surface but this works well with fungal problems.

thanks for the advice - i'll give the tonix a try first. i was hoping on adding more silver-tipped tetras to the tank this weekend.... maybe i should wait until the cotton is gone entirely?
