I was wondering if a male swortail and female platy could have babies?????? If so would there be some baby swordtails and platies??????? Also if some were gonna be swordtails would they be born with the sword tail?????? Has any one done this???????????

:dunno:

Yes, they can be bred. They have, and that's what has produced a lot of the more colourful varieties of swordtail. The two species are very close genetically. I don't know what kind of ratio platies:swordtails you'd get, or if it'd be a mixed lot or all the same.

I've heard swordtails can breed with mollies, I don't know about platies but I don't see why not cuz they are the same family, I reckon you would get hybrids.

 Swordtails and platies can breed together. I have a beautiful swordtail/platy cross and he looks like a swordtail and platy combined. He's longer than a platy, but wider than a swordtail. He doesn't have a sword on his tail though. :)
