Today I found a swordtail/platy fry. I have never had any hybrids before so I have a few questions.

1. Will it be ok?
2. What will it look like and what colour will it be? (The swordtail is green and the platy is orange)
3. Will its lifespan be shortened?
4. Will it have the temperment of a swordtail or platy?
5. Will it be best with a group of swordtails or platy?

Thanks in advance!

These hybrids are extremely common, in fact it is probably hard to find platies in the shops these days that don't have some swordtail in them. He will be fine, though he may turn out to inherit some of the aggression of the swordtails rather than the more equable platy temperament.

When they were mating, who was the male and who was the female?

These two fish so closely related, i dout you'll have any problems with the offspring.

I agree, in fact many color strains were created using one speices and crossing to the other. So chances are your platies and swordtails have the other in them already.
