I have been breeding my female Platy's to a bright orange and black Swordtail. The results so far have been really wonderful and I have been able to keep more than 95% of my babies alive.

What I am wondering now is, how much do you sell them for, or if the are not something people will actuall pay for.

The ones I have range from solid orange, different shades, to orange with Mickey Mouse tails.

I asked our local pet shop and was told they usually take them for free, which seems wrong as they sell them for $7.99 each?

So, what do you think? Give them away, or try to sell privatly instead?

Also my pretty sunset female Platy just had babies from the same male Swordtail, so I'm excited to see what color they turn out to be.

Thanks for any input.

if ur gunna get rid of them, u cant advertise them as hybrids esspecially if ur selling to a lfs. just look at them and if they look like plattys call them plattys, if they look like swordies, call them that. lfs will recommend u destroy them but of corse without this cross breeding we would not have the wonderful colors in swords and plattys we have today. they sound great, u should have no trouble convinceing sum 1 to buy them.

your best bet is to give them to a good quality lfs. they may buy them from u or give u store credit, i know mine give me credit for the guppys i provide

Thanks.....

Since they look exactly like Platy's with the Mickey Mouse's on them, thats what they are.

I like them and have LOTS of them...lol, so wish me luck.

I guess I best remove my Swordtail male and replace him with a Platy male.

Out to get some female Swordtails then.
