I want some platies for my tank and was originally going to get 1 male and 2 females but i really dont want lots of fry to survive. i thought they would all be eaten if i jus left them in the main tank, but after reading more it seems that some do survive. i dont want an overstocked tank. would i be better getting an all male group?? are females less colourful? in case i decide on an all female group
both males and females are as colourfull as each other, a group of males would be ok if you had room for 5 or more to spread out agression, as long as theres lots of swimming room and hiding places, i prefer a group of females they are less agressive and in time with out a male will run out of any fry they may be having, some will get ate you will get the odd one survive so maybe ask around to see if anyone will take them off you. all the best donna
in my community tank ive got three females and three males and have had them for six months no pregnant fish or fry up to yet dont know why ??? females seem to be fat one day and the next back to normal
