I have a beautiful hi-fin Platy girl and for some reason she is sitting on the substrate, she'll move a little bit then flop down again. She's upright not falling over or anything and looks fine - not gasping or looking stressed. Do Platys do this kind of thing now & again or should I be worried??

They do this when they sleep, but it's also a sign of illness. Is she eating or shimmying?

She didn't eat, not sure about the shimmying is that when they 'bounce' off things really quickly? Unfortunately she passed away on Sunday - I just don't know why. I've lost a male & a female over the past few weeks, one minute they're fine the next they hide away & die. All the other fish are fine. It's a mystery.

Sorry to hear that :( If you cant figure out what the problem is go to your lfs and get a treatment that covers the most common things. I am sure there will be something you could try. Are you stats all ok? x
