So I have 3 platys, 2 females and 1 male. Well the male keeps following the red wag female and every time he gets by her he clamps up, he does it occasionaly with the sunburst female as well. I think they may be pregnant. So I don't if this is a sign of him wanting something from her or if she's going to have babies soon. Any advice or answers??? Please he's been doing this since yesterday morning

First thing, both your females will be pregnant. Livebearers are sex-mad, this is why it's recommended to have a ratio of at least 2f per m - it means that he shares his attentions around, and doesn't stress any one female too much.

When you say he "clamps up", do you mean that he brings his gonopodium forward? Or if you could describe more fully what you mean, please.

I don't know exactly what all the fins are called but I do know which one your talking about I haven't seen that come forward I know when he does that he puts it into her. But he closes up all his fins if that makes since, his tail gets real small and not as fanned out and the one on his back closes all the way down to his body. Like I said I don't know all the correct fish lingo but I hope this makes enough sense for you to understand what I mean I don't know how else I can explain it :( sorry

I don't think it's anything to worry about - I've had platies and mollies in the past, and they don't swim around everywhere with fins extended the whole time. I was watching my Limia last night, and they were doing it too, both male and females.

If they were constantly clamped, it would be a problem.
