At what age do the fry mature so that you can identify gender?

I thought I bought another young adult female, but now I'm not sure. I've been to the entry with the very good diagrams of male and female fish but I just can't tell on this new one. The male ignored it, and now that Mama Platy died, the new "female" frequently changes Daddy Platy. I think I may have two adult males.

I am waiting for the fry to mature so that I can see what the ratio in the tank will be.

All fry appear as female when they are young and the rate at which they mature varys a bit, but i would say at 5 to 6months old that is when they are fully mature; basically when you start to see the males appearing that is when they are beginning to fully mature and i would start to rehome the males once they start appearing to avoid any inbreeding or unwanted pregnancys.

I definitely have 2 adult males and 0 adult females. There should be 5 females for the two males? Can my tank take that many more fish? I tried to reduce stress in the tank by getting another female but ended up increasing it. That may be what led to the mama platy's death, although I never saw the newest male chasing her. Now he constantly chases the older male platy. I also wanted 3 more corys and 5 more harlequin rasboras but if I get female platys, there won't be room for these.

When my guppies were 6 weeks old i was able to tell the difference in male and female! When they are 4 months old they are fully mature and have all there colours! Obviously this information could differ for others!
