ok, my setup has 1 Red platy, the waters spects are all nitrate and ammonia are at 0 or near zero, the PH is rather low but a platy can take it, it is 6.8(i need to know how to raise it w/at home materials) i bought 1 sunset platy(femail possible pregnant b/c of the darkspot but that could be a natural spec) and a DEFINITELY pregnant swordtail, theres a large gravid spot inbetween the bottom fins, thye are currently adapting to the new waters but the platy in the tank by himself his always on the bottom and refuses to eat, he HAD ick and still does(put medicine and raised water temp at reasonable rate to help aid in the killing of the infestation, i got 6 baby snails to help clean the algea, i need to know howlong it will take for the swordtail to give birth, shes pretty big lengthwise i will get a picture of it soon but digi-cam batteries knocked out i bought the 2 new fish in hopes of cheering up my original platy by giving him a breeding opportunity. he occatioanlly goes to the top when i put cup in to sample the water, he enjoys being near it for some reason.

Is there a question in there somewhere?

I have no idea when it will give birth, try Google.

Good luck.

yeah i just added them to the new tank, its a bit too fast but their hardy enough to take it, the swordtail however is testing her newfound perimeters and yet the red platy has not gotten out of his gloomy sequence my questions are if my sunset platy is pregnant and why is my red platy acting this way

(i need to know how to raise it w/at home materials)

To raise pH naturally:

Add crushed coral, sea shells, or base rock to your gravel.

If you just want to raise it gradually but dont want to *keep* it at a high pH, add the above ingredients in a mesh bag so you dont have to try and pick it out of your gravel later...

im having an aemergency with my red platy now, he flops over like hes going to die, he wont even eat a freesedried bloodworm, what is wrong!!!

Edit*might be bloat ut then ill need a cure*

nevermind about the sick platy.... he passed away last night

Sorry to hear. :( What are your water stats, what have you been feeding, and how often? You'll want to fix the problem, so no other fish gets it. :)

water is normal at or slightly above 0 For PH and nitrate my swordtails pregnancy is starting to progress, her belly is getting wider and shes a bit more agitated and always wants food and steals from the platy sometimes
