My Sunset platy has all of a sudden stopped moving. He only moves when he feels he needs to, and even then it is very slowly with minimal movement of his tails and such. He has his lower fins all clamped to his stomach, and he has been pooing clear poo continuously. It is just a long string of clear poo. I have had him for almost a month, and well he has never been lazy at all. He has always darted about in the tank, chasing around the other fish. And well he does not seem to want to compete for food anymore, he just sees if there are any leftovers at the top even after my guppies have eaten everything. And as you probably wel know, if he is lazy and in competition with guppies, he wont eat. He is not getting very much food. And I try to put it at his nose, but he just scitters away from my fingers. He has found a new place behind the filter where he can sqeeze his body in and rest there until he feels he needs to get out. He is usua;;y very energetic. What is going on??

None of my other fish are affected.

Also, why does my pregnant female guppy keep trying to nibble on my MM platy's eye??

I would suggest putting him in a separate tank for now. It may be a possible bacterial problem. How often do you perform water changes?
Do you have water stats that you could post?
What size is the tank?
What other tankmates are in the tank?
Have you added anything new lately?

I usually do a weekly 20 percent water change. Sometimes more. I am not really scheduled. The tank is a 10 gallon. I have 2 female guppies, 1 male. 1 MM platy and him. As well as a breeder box. My female is pregnant.

I have not added any new thing lately. And I do not have the kit yet. I Will be getting another soon though.

i had this problem with my angels and they did the exact same thing. i had four of them and one after another they started dying...but it was only the angels that died. i was new to all this then and didnt know much about cycling etc so i simply put it down as poor water conditions due to lack of cycling (though it had been running for about 2 months). i didnt know what went wrong there either but ithink also may have been bacterial so perhaps try melafix and i would put him in a different tank immediately cos if it is bacterial then his poo will infect the water etc and other fish.

Is there a way to naturally fix him? Could it be something like constipation (hoping...) ?? I would medicate it, but I really dont want it to affect my other fish. And I have some fry expected. So is it best just to put him in another tank and wait for him to die?? Is there no hope for him?

I'm no expert, but it doesn't sound like constipation if he is pooing.
If it is parasite/bacterial you really need to separate him from the rest of your tank asap.
Pets at Home have a cheap mini tank for £14 at the mo, then you just need to get hold of an extra heater & filter/airstone. If you are raising fry this would be useful for you to have anyway (which might take the sting out of laying out all that money!)
Have you got any way of posting a picture? That might help someone diagnose the problem.
Did you cycle the tank before you added the fish? How long has your tank been running for?

Good luck & sorry I couldn't be more help.

Sadly, Isis the sunset platy died earlier today. The others were nibbling at him, so I separated him into another tank, where he died peacefully. I would still like to figure out what went wrong though. I have had my tank going for about a month and a half, and my fish have been in there for around a month.

And I could not get a picture of the clear poo, because it is clear, and I dont think anybody would be able to see it. If it helps, his scales started to get a little prickly by the looks of him. (I didn't touch :0)
