Hi,
How long does it take for a platy to give birth? My platys belly is so big and round!
Thanks :)

How long are they pregnant for? Or how long does it actually take for them to give birth?

The answer to the first question is around 4 weeks, the second question's answer is it depends on the Platy. Most are done in a few hours to a day, but some can have them over a week.

If neither of those answered your question...Sorry! :)

Ah, okay great. I was just a little confused there. :D

Best of luck to you and your Platy! Hope she has a problem-free birth, and that all the fry come out healthy and happy (and hungry!).

I hope so too! Ive had so many problems with my 10 gallon... So I hope everything works out :D
Also how many more fish can I add to my tank? As Ive said before I have 3 female platys and 2 guppy fry :)
Thanks :fun:

What size tank? The 10 gallon?

If we do inch per gallon...

3 Female Platies = 2" x 3 = 6"
2 Guppies = 1.5 x 2 = 3"

So 9". However, this isn't always right with Livebearers...for example, Guppies are very thin-bodied fish that don't produce much waste...so you can usually have more of them. I'd say you could maybe get away with adding 2 more Guppies, OR maybe 3 Pygmy or small Cories, and that's it. :)
