I had the guy I bought this fish from tell me it was a young gold dust molly, I told him I thought it was a platy. I had the room so I didnt mind at that point, but she still looks like a platy to me. it is just the coloring on her tail, she does not have a nip out of it and thats the best photo I got. she is the black and gold one that is in the pic.

The Black and gold one is 100% Molly, it's the head shape, Dorsal fin and elongated body shape I'm going by.
The Gold/red is a platy

THe bottom one is 100% platy.

PLatys are more taller in body shape and ermm (short and stocky lol) where mollies are slimmer and longer

Exactly right. It is a mollie, 24karat gold to be exact. That is what they will end up as so they will never really resemble a mollie. Be careful though, I wouldn't recomend keeping them in a tank with other mollies. I'm not sure the gender of this from the pics, but if it is male, it will try to breed with other females and I have to say, the fry are quite creepy looking. Take my advice from experience. They are still great fish and they are extremely hardy. Good Luck with it.
