Platy Only Using 1 Of Her Front Fins

I recently added a new platy to my aquarium and didn't notice until I got her home that she only uses one of the front fins when swimming. I don't even know if the other one works or what it looks like. Also her tail is a little frayed like it was being bitten. It dosen't look like fin rot to me though so I have no idea what could have happened to it. Maybe a male was trying to mate with her??? ANy ideas. I don't want her to be sick and me not do anythign about it.

Just a little of her tail and it is whitish so I went out yesterday and got some treatment for finrot and infection so hopefully that will help.
