sorry the pictures are not very clear.

he was being bullied by the other male for a few weeks prior to his illness. he hid a lot behind plants. he's a lot older than the others- he's a year or more old. perhaps it's old age?

is ammonia nitrate and nitrite all one thing? I mean is there nitrate and nitrite and then amonia nitrate and amonia nitrite or is ammonia a completely separate thing? I'm unsure as to what NO3 & NO2 are, I thought these were nitrate and nitrite?
Sorry I'm a little bit confused.
I don't have the ammonia test kit yet, I need to get one as this was suggested when a few of my fish died last time.
The platy has died now, I just don't want this to happen to any more fish as I've only got 3 left.

AshP1986 probably meant it like "ammonia, nitrite and nitrate"? Not "ammonia nitrite"?

NO2 = Nitrite
NO3 = Nitrate

Iiriva this is true.... shame on me... especially because im an english teacher o_0

ok, I understand now! Thanks, I'm going to get hold of an ammonia test kit as I think it will help. I wasn't sure what NO3 and NO2 were either so thank you Iiriva for confirming that it's nitrate and nitrite.
