Platy Not Eating

Hi, I have a Dwarf Gourami in my 8Gallon tank, My first Female Platy stopped eating and died. The Gourami was bulling it and its fin was in bits and her scales a bit rough. I have 2 more Platies one I just bought after the other died. But the Female that was there before is now not eating, she looks fine. she was also bullied by the Gourami. The other fish are fine and the bulling seems to have stopped. Amonia = 0, Nitrate = 0.1, Nitite = 0. Once a fish stops eating do they ever eat again. Is there anything I can do?

I'd say you need hiding places in your tank.....lots of hiding places. Live or silk plants, ornaments, caves with two openings, anywhere your platies can go to hide and the gourami can't corner them. You could try adding more variety to their diet to boost their overall health and disease resistance. Even though the bullying has stopped now, i think hiding places/privacy would probably perk up your platies a bit....good luck, HTH.

Thanks, I’ll find a small aquarium ornament, I have live plants and a few days ago the 2 Platies were eating bits of the side of the plant. I feed them tropical Flake food and one or two peas a day
