Platy ill

Hi ,

I noticed one of my Platies had a white patch of scales near its tail the other day.
At first it still seemed happy and active but now seems to be becoming rather introverted in its behaviour and is spitting out its food. It isnt Ich. Just wondering what it could be and what treatments I could get it

Oh ..also I did a water change immediately when i noticed the problem.. at the time there was no ammonia .. hardness was fine but Ph had dropped to 6.2
After water change Ph was back up to 7.0 and has remained at that level since.

How old is your platy? Do you keep catfish as well? If you don't have catfish I would try some aquarium salt in the water according to the instructions and just keep an eye on him.

Those pictures do look like it - and the information does match the situation

ie I am in Southern hemisphere - early winter here - the tank temp has been increased by about 2 degrees lately

I gave her a salt bath last night and she was looking much happier .. hopefully she will pull through with some medicated food.
