Hello. I'm new here and have some questions about my platy fry. I've searched for the answers and haven't really found what I was looking for, so decided to make my first post :)
I have 2 baby platies that are almost 2 weeks old and are in a net breeder right now.

1. How old (or large) should they be before I can release them into the main tank? (only other fish are 2 female and 1 male platy)
2. How long before they start showing their colors?
3. How long before I can sex them?

Also, I am wanting to get some guppies. I think they are just beautiful! Do guppies do well with platies? I have a ten gallon tank but would upgrade, if I get the guppies.

You can put them back when they're too large to fit in the mouths of the adult fish. I'd wait longer than you initially think, because you might be surprised what the adults can fit in their mouths. By the time you put them back, you should see colors and sex.

Platies hardly eat babies, newly born fry are a different matter, they will actively eat a good few if their not well feed.

How ever if it's just a tank with platies I would not worry and rear the babies with the perents, just remembering to keep them all well feed.
