Platy Fry Question

hi all, i was wondering, when you get a pregnant platy from the fish shop, will she always have babies every month or so without the male? the reason I ask is I have bought a pregnant guppy + one male guppy, i have the male in a seperate tank and she is in my fry tank? So does she need a male to make babies the second time round? i.e. when she has her 1st set of babies, will she need a male to mate with to have the second set? or will she already be pregnant from the male she mated with before i bought her?

Hi,
if your sure shes pregnant, she wont need a male until she runs out of sperm, which could be up to 7 months time, so she can give birth with out a male every month for this time. hth Donna

Cool thanks, I'll wait till she gets fatter, I might as well take out the male platy as he keeps harrasing one female trying to get his wee wee into her woo woo... typical

it is recomended that you keep 2-3 female livebearers to every 1 male
