Platy Fry Growing In Community Tank Duller Than Platy Fry In Breeders

I found platy fry in my community tank and they were paler than the others in the breeders trap. I am surprised they avoided my fish this long. Anyways could they be paler because they weren't fed the first bites like the others were?

They could be stressed from the other fish in the tank and/or because they may not be getting enough food as they would have to compete with the other adult fish.
