My platie was pregnant so I put her in the lee's breeder's tank and she had her fry yesterday so today I noticed my other platy is pregnant so my question is could 30 platy fry live in the breeders tank, I have a spare 5 gallon tank but it isn't cycled. Do the fry need a filter? And how can I save the other platy fry?

how big is the breeding tank? the only time i ever bred platies the fry grew up in the tank with their parents and a few other fish, and mostly they were fine
It was a 10G fairly densley planted tank, and i would generally say that fry need a filter, even if its a tiny little internal one

It depends on the size of the breeder tank they're in now. If another female is pregnant, double the number of fry you have now as an esitmate to how many you'll have, will that look crowded in the current nursery?
There is no estimate for how many fry equal one fish so I wont go that way, but generally fry are clean compared to their parents, so long as the food is crushed up very finely they'll more than likely eat it all, even the stuff that sinks.
I wouldn't worry about how many fry will fit in the tank. I'd worry more about how many adult fish you think you will be able to deal with.

I won't keep all of them just one or two but the rest I'll donate or trade them for something else at a pet fish store once they are big enough. The breeders tank is 1/4 of a gallon and it has left over food and fish poop at the bottom of the breeders thing and I have no idea on how to clean it cus I'm afraid the fry might die.
