Platy Breeding

I'm trying to breed my platies, is it more effective to place the male and female in a breeder or to leave them in the tank with all the other fish in there, i feel like with all the activity going on they dont acknowledge one another

Hi,

Personally I would leave them in the tank so the male can do his business. I found out that when I took a pair of swordtails and put them into a breeding trap, the male was too stressed out and didn't do anything.

When the female is heavily pregnant, place her in a breeding trap so most of the fry will survive. Or you can always opt for the natural way by adding a fair amount of plants at the bottom and the top of the tank.
