My female platy had babies overnight. When she had her last babies I never saw even one, she was in a tank with my dwarf gourami then.
I have since moved the platys into my 30 gall and I have seen a couple of babies this morning but other tank members (particularly female bettas and neon tetras) are obviously stalking and eating them.
When I lifted the flap of the lid up one baby was hiding in plant on the surface so I popped him/her into a breeding trap. Will he survive? and how can I best look after him? I have some Tetra fry food which I use to feed my Endlers.
Sorry for being such a newb! I'm just so excited to have a baby!

Congrats on the baby. I don't see why you couldn't feed fry food you use for the others to feed it. I crush my flake food into tiny bits for mine. They seem to be thriving on it. Congrats again.

Congratulations!

The fry food will be fine for now. It's probably the best for him actually. When he gets a bit older, you can move on to finely crushed flakes, and maybe suppliment in some high-protein food. For example: Freeze-dried Daphnia, Live Baby Brine Shrimp, Frozen Daphnia...any kind of Frozen/Live/Freeze-dried food that you can get small enough. :) I wouldn't feed it more then a few times a week, because it can cause constipation or bloating, especially in fry. Also, make sure, if you have frozen foods, they are totally defrosted. Then as he gets even bigger, you can just make the foods a little bigger, and then eventually just move him to what the others are eating.

Congrats again and best of luck!

Congratulations.

Keep the water in the breeding trap nice and clean as it could get polluted fast if some of the food doesn't get eaten, (It's not easy to know how much to feed just 1 fry!).

Good luck.

Thanks for the replies. Have been unable to access internet all week, a problem with our line.
I have 6 babies now in a plastic floating trap. They are definitely growing and swimming around their trap now, I think they know the other fish can't get them in there. They will be blue micky mouse platties - they are already blue and I am soooo pleased with them! :D
