We have had a thriving tank full of Platties and Mollies for a long time. I have seen many come and go but this one fish I have currently amazes me. The poor platty is completely round and I mean like in the form of a puffer fish in full display. The poor thing is completely round and almost transparent with the slender insides laying inside the huge bubble. I figure that the poor fish has dropsy although it doesn't show any of the classic pine cone texturing. Also it is completely lively and eats like any of the others. Besides swimming awkwardly due to its shape the fish is perfectly functional. We put it in an isolation cell and tried to give it some boiled peas which it ate but had no effect and it had such a fit being segregated that we let it back out after a day. The poor fish has been this way for at least two weeks with no sign of deterioration.
This is new to me. I figured the poor fish was a goner in short order but it continues to carry on which leads me to what next to try to cure it. Any suggestions on how to treat this poor fish would be most appreciated. Thanks.
