Platty Being Bullied

My smallest male platty is being bullied by a much larger platty, I have got x5 females in the tank with x3 males but one of the males is keep on bullying the smallest, whenever the smallest one tries to be part of the group the larger male chases him away so most of the time the smaller fish is on his own hiding under the cocunut shell or away from the others, does anyone have any suggestions what I can do? I was thinking about removing the bully and returning him back to the fish shop as I want a peaceful tank.

Currently I have x8 Plattys, x2 Gourami's and x5 Cherry Shrimps (which are always hiding) in a 20 gallon tank

If i were you i would take the male back to the lfs and replace it with a female,the males are probably fighting over dominance towards the females and 2/3 females per male would be better.
