I'm thinking about expanding my tank to have platies also. I need allot more info than I have though.

-Will they fight with my guppies?
-Can I keeps lots of them in my 10 gallon tank with a few adult guppies and about 10 young guppies?
-What do they eat?
-How often do they breed?
-Will they eat their young?
-Will my guppies eat their young?
-How much do the sell for?

And one more thing, if you have a picture of one can you post it on here so I can get some ideas of the differend colors?

-it happens sometimes, don't be surprised if it does

There very simular to guppies and they will go together quite happily, but they are usually slightly harder to breed,

just exactly how many is a few? other than that they are pretty much the same

You could have 3-4 platys, but are you planning on keeping any of the young guppys? How many adult guppys do you have at the moment? What are the dimensions (length, width, height) of the tank?

They won't attack the guppys, and they will breed on a similar basis as the guppys with similar numbers of fry. Platy fry take 6months to mature though, instead of 3months like guppys, their diet is very similar to that of guppys. Price range wise there are more or less the same as guppys, but if you are planning on raising any platy fry, i'd definately advise getting a fry tank of around 5gals- personally i wouldn't get any platys until you're juvenile guppys have been moved from the 10gal (i take it you are planning on rehoming them?).

I have a 10 gal. tank, advrige size, and I have 4 adult guppies. Other than that, I have 10 4 or 5 month old guppies. I already have a fry tank that is also 10 gallons. The main tank is the only one I might have space issues with. All the tanks I've seen before at stores and on the internet look like they have more than twise that many. If platties are about the same as guppies than I think they should be fine. Is it possible to breed a pure strain of platties like with guppies? I made the mistake of going with just regular guppies and I want to do better with the platties. BTW, mom doesn't know yet, lol, but I don't think she'll object
