my platties have a varied diet and are healthy............ but all they do is pooh! it is always just hangs off them. what the problem.

Don't worry about it, they may just be constipated so try feeding them a pea. However, often this problem occurs in my tanks, but it's nothing to worry about from my experiance.

Only thing to watch is whether they are acting strangely, eg, resting at the bottom or top of the tank, flicking on objects, signs of white spot etc. But I am sure there is nothing to get worried about at this stage.

:)

FishKeeper, if they are pooing a lot, how could they be constipated? -_-

Laura, Platies do poo a lot! Especially if you are giving them lots of high-protein foods. What do you feed them? And do you have any pregnant females? As they seem to be the ones that will poo even more. :)

Sorry about that... :S I actually meant to give the point across that they may be a bit 'loose' to put it nicely..

i feed them, lettuce, cucumber, frozrn and dried food i try to vary it as much as poss! one thing i have noticed about the platties is that they seem to always be eating! esp my plants!

Platys are greedy pigs! In fact, I'm not sure I don't find this their most attractive trait. Such a contrast from my 5-year-old. Still, what goes in has clearly got to come out.

it is kinda cute! i have 2 congo frogs and when i feed them using a turkey baster the platties nearly get sucked up! :p
