I'm due to get some plattie fry over the next few days from my two pregnant platties in one of my tanks and i'm wandering. Will Topaz and Figure 8 Puffer's in my other tanks eat the plattie fry if I gave it to them because it would solve my problem of finding homes for the fry and also it would save me money on bloodworm for a day or two for my Puffer's...

Surely they would eat the fry?

:good: Thanks!

Yes they would eat them but they're not as nutritious as bloodworms and shouldn't be a huge part of their diet.

No, I don't really want to make it their stable diet. To be honest it's just a way of getting rid of plattie fry (as harsh as that sounds) and also saving money on live/frozen foods for a day or two.

Yes, i completely understand. It's much easier to get rid of Platy fry that way, I don't think it's cruel.

I popped a couple of newborn baby platy fry in for my dwarf puffers and although they had a hard time catching them (too used to slow frozen bloodworms probably) they weren't around 24 hours later! During tank rearrange today never did see them so I have to figure they either got sucked up into the filter or one of my spoiled dps got off their lazy behind and got 'em!

LOL!

I just wish my Plattie mother's would hurry up and give birth! :/
