I have just introduced an internal filter (500lph) to my 3" tank (there is also a canister which has been running too slow) and even though the platies can swim against the current if they want to they seem a bit unhappy, sitting near the bottom and not being very active. My bristlenose plecos and danios are loving the current so I don't want to disperse it too much.

Do you think the platies will get used to it? There is lots of plants and places to hide.

i had this amazing filter nozzle that squirted air bubbles out in the filter flow at a high speed and the platys hated it so i had to change it to the soft flow which is not that good to look at but the platys are alot happier even tho there in the juwel now anyway! :p so i would change it other wise they will be unhappy and hide..

I would try and turn it down if you can, point it towards the glass to break the current.

Thanks for the replies.

It is already pointed at the glass but I have got it spitting out bubbles too so it is pretty turbulent in the corner near the outlet. Today they seem a better, more active, and the other fish still love it (My BN plecos were taking it in turns to sit with their heads about an inch away from the outlet and get blasted. The boy with the bristles looked like someone with long hair in a convertable on the freeway. :D ) so I might persevere for now but I will be keeping an eye on them and I will make sure there is a quiet area in the other end for them.
