i woke up this morning to see my yellow platy with red gills and its probably on my other platies but they are red and i probably cant see it,my male platy has a bit of fin rot from fighting in another tank at the lfs, i decided to treat it with maracyn two(only thing i have) sice it treats fin rot and i saw this thing called gill disease on the back i figured theres y cure, can anyone aid me thruogh this

We need to know water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph, as red gills can be due to poor water quality, also red gills can be due to parasites, so do the gills look like they have mucas on then.
Any signs of laboured breathing or flicking and rubbing on objects.

no flicking/rubbong it doesnt seem to be mucusy, i cleaned out my tank so its probably becaus eof the cycle thats starting

Can you post stats, yes ammonia can burn and irratate the gills causing them to look red and inflamed.

i have no stats as of now, i have not gotten the money to get a tester kit, ive been going to the lfs for free tests weekly, since its a new tank, no stats yet

What fish do you have in the tank to see if you can add salt, also alot of aeration with the tank cycling, as it's already taking it toll on fish if the gills are red.

more platies lol, i had some fry but im getting them the purest water possible

That's fine, how many gallons is the tank.

Just two tablespoons then, get a jug of tank water and stir the salt in it till it disolves then add back to the tank.
If you have fry in there just one tablespoon of salt.

they fry are kept seapreate(size issues) and thye are fully developing, i just dont know what im gonna do with 15

althought the mother is red the babies are yellow, i belive they are 24 karrot platies with mickey mouse tail from what i can see

That's fine then as long as they are not in the tank water, add two tablespoons.
I gave my fry away to the lfs, and they let me have some free fish.

hmm.... i could use some supplies(heater, test kit, aerator)
