I currently have 4 platies in a 5.5 gallon tank. I have recently moved my male betta fish out of there because he was basically getting eaten alive by the platies. His fins were torn and they just looked a mess. However he is used to the space that he used to have in the 5.5 gallon and he just hates his new home in the 1.5 gallon i bought him. I am thinking of moving him back to the 5.5 gallon because he tries to jump out of the smaller one and i get the feeling that he doesn't like it. My question is what can i do to stop the paties from biting the betta? (without getting rid of one or the other) I love all my fish and i wish they would just get along. Are there any steps that i can take in this area that may help my situation? Any advise will be helpful! Thanks guys!

In a 5.5 gal it would be hard to develop areas for either fish to hide/hand out. If your platties like to nip his fins, they will... I'd say the 1.5 is betta's new hope, no question. For his safety and welfare that's just how its gotta be... Best of luck.

ALASKA

Alaska is right, that small of a tank it's going to keep happening. You can keep him in the 1.5 until you get a bigger one for him. Put a lid on it so he can't commit suicide,he'll get used to it.
