I was just wondering if a plastic tank with a mini heater is a good idea.....will it melt the plastic? I live in the UK - its a bit of a must to have a heater. A plastic tank is going to be a million times easier for me to transport (everywheres miles away from me lol) as well as being lots cheaper. What are your thoughts?

Thanks a million!

Yes you can have a heater in a plastic tank, it won't hurt them.

If it's a 1 g or even 2 g sometimes having a light on will increase the temperature.

My two betta tanks are 1.5 gallon plastic Kritter Keepers. They have 25 W heaters and are fine.

Shouldn't be a problem at all I have two 50W and one 25W heater in my three boy tanks and they are fine! Not a single problem! I had the exact same fear though so don't worry! It's always worth checking if you are unsure

it's fine. think about it...you're only going to warm the betta tank to about 80 degrees or so right? if the heater would melt the tank, then the tank would melt if you took it outside on a hot summer's day :fun: :look:

Lol! I didnt think of it like that. I'm off to get me a plastic tank now :D
