Plastic in Tanks

I want to use some plastic, grid-type mats in my Malawi cichlid tank under the rocks and gravel to stop the rocks scratching the glass and supply some stability. I've found some that are made of the same plastic as washing up bowls, draining sets etc.

Would these be okay to use in a tank? I'm guessing/hoping that as they're meant to have plates and stuff on them they shouldn't be toxic.

Does anyone have any advice or any experience with this?

I wouldn't see a problem with it. If it's non-toxic for us to eat on it can't be so bad.

That does help, thanks. I don't suppose you found a UK source? Although, I've already bought the mat stuff, and if the egg crate plastic is okay, I guess the mat plastic will be okay too! Anyhowz, if the fish all kark it when I put it in, I'll let you know!
