Has anyone had any experience with putting solidified plaster of paris in the water. Not sure if it would be harmful or not.

I am asking since I build drip castles which would be a cool water feature. Also you could make your won tuneling rock work, or use it for a 3D background.

If you wanted to paint it and seal it, not sure what would be best to use.

Call me cautious but I'd be extremely worried about adding anything to a tank that could dissolve over time or had paint on it. The straight answer is I don't know but personally would not risk it. :-(

Yah I don't think I will use it, I opted to go with just an image background.

Uh, what the hell is spiderman doing in your avatar picture?

definitely do NOT add plaster of paris (sealed or unsealed) to your tank. it will dissolve eventually and will do very bad things to both your water chemistry and your filtration.

Plaster of Paris will disolve in water and contains lime. Definitely not for the aquarium. I suppose you may be able to seal it with something but it would be pretty risky IMO.
