The water in my aquarium always has a greenish/dirty tinge, even after I do partial water changes. I was thinking of getting some amazon sword plants...would that help with the nitrogen cycle of the tank/clear up the water? Any help is appreciated.

Live plants are beneficial because they give more oxygen to the fish and they absorb nitrates. Not a WHOLE LOT of them, but some which is better than none IMO. I don't know about the green stuff though. :dunno:

A well planted tank with plenty of light can consume more nitrogen than any sane fish stocking produces; many people actually add nitrates to their tank to keep their plants happy.
