when you buy plants from an lfs they put them in plastic bags.
how long can they live in these bags?

Best to plant them as soon as you can, check them well for snails/eggs, rinse them then plant them

You can get cheaper plants by buying online, Greenline Aquatics is a good one

i was just wondering because there is a store near to where i work, but i only have time to visit it on my lunch, and was wondering if the plants would be ok for about 5 hours till i got home.

Depends on how much water is in there. If you add water to submerge the plant, it would easily live days if not weeks.

If the plants are sealed in a plastic bag then they will be fine for 5 hours. Mine take three days to get here in the post and they are just wrapped in wet news paper then bagged
