Hi.

My mums wanting firsh so shes told me to do some research on them bla bla bla lol.

We got some plants today from pets at home, 4 for £6. They came in like 3 cm clay pots with some foam in the pot and the plant planted in the foam. I was just wondering if this is ok to grow them in or if they need something else to grow in. We only got 2 different kinds (2 of each) one is green and long leafs and the other is a browny/rusty colour wiht short leafs.

Thank you.

Great site btw its helped alot so far got 1 fish just now (dont even ask the name was my mum that got it, some kind of goldfish though with like a orange head like its a brain coming out it lol).

So do you just have the one tank? How big is it?

If you have a goldfish in it, you need to setup as a coldwater tank. Most plants sold at the LFS are tropical and not coldwater. There's only a couple of plants I know that are suitable for coldwater: anacharis and hornwort. Here's a page of plants; maybe you can find what you have. http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/categ.cfm?pCatId=768

By the way, it sounds like you have a Red Cap Oranda goldfish; they're cute. I wwas very tempted to setup my 55 gallon as a coldwater tank.

My mum has one tank my gran has one tank. My gran has a coldwater tank so but we are having a tropical one but my mum wanted to get a fish in it and the guy at the store told her that it would be fine in tropical. Will probably end up changing it over to my grans tank though.

Its a 18 Gallon tank and really just want to know what you do with the plants cause I somehow dont think they will grow if they are in a foam thingy lol.

Rotala Magenta and Ruffle Plant thats the 2 :)

Sorry I dont know how to edit posts.

Thanks.
