ok so i have a 55 gallon tank! i only have the plastic plants in there. they look ok but i want my tank to look better and i was at my lfs and i was asking qustions about live plants and the girl just looked at me like i was crazy so maybe u guys can help me out!

1. puting the plants in gravel is that ok.

2. what are good starting out plants. like fool proof plants that i cant kill very easy since im new to this.

3. do plants make more of a mess in my tank.

4. are there plants that i should not buy.

5. are there plants that give out toxins that will kill my fish?

6. are there any down sides to live plants.

well that is all i can think of right now. if i think of anything else i will post it. well i just wanted to say thanks for all of ur help! B)
 
1.Yes but not ideal, some thing like Eco-complete would be better to plant in

3.Not sure what your asking
4.Plants that require alot of light
5.No they will no harm your fish, the produce O2 so help your fish
6.More maintance

look at the low level light plants, I assume you don’t have much light and your not intending to us CO2

What lighting have you got at the mo ?
 
1. For most plants yes, but there are others that need to be attatched or left free floating.

2. Anything with Java or Anubias in the title.

3. Once again depends on the type of plants you are going to grow.

4. Ones that require intensive care, lots of light and co2.

5. Probably, but these will never be sold as an 'aquirium plant'.

6. More maintenance (ditto).
