Hi,

If this is in the wrong place then I'm sorry but if I have plants from a tank that contained snails and I want the plants in my new tank how do I make sure that the plants do not have snails or eggs on them before I put them in my new tank?

What's the best way of cleaning the plants to rid them of the snails/eggs?

Thanks

Hi you can soak the plants in a mild bleach solution. I do not know how much bleach per quantity of water, I would like to know as well! I have not done this (obviously!) but I would like to treat any new plants as those little snails are a pest. :)

A mild saline (salt) solution is kinder to plants than bleach, as far as I know. Warm water and salt - not too much - do the taste test! This seems to get rid of most snails, IME. Don't soak the plants for too long though.

Hi Kris,

I think the solution is 1 part bleach to 20 parts water but see if anyone can confirm. You can buy a snail killing solution from the fish shop.

Hey Emma,

I'll try the bleach cos I know I've definately got that in the house  thank you very much for the plants your a star :)

I would'nt RISK using Bleach to KILL off the SNAILS.

As if it's NOT done right it will kill your PLANTS as well.... "LOOK" at what it does to ALGE!!!!

To me it would be Much eaiser, as well as SAFER to go to my LPS and get me some SNAIL GONE...

Soak my Plants in it for the Alloted Time and go from there.

But thats Me....

Let me know HOW it Works Out....
