I'm currently in the process of setting up a new aqaurium, I'm going to be having a lot of bogwood in this tank and I want to grow some plants on them. Does anyone know of a list of plants that will grow on wood, or can you recommend any?

Thanks! :)

java fern, java moss & anubais just off the top of my head but I'm a relative plant newbie so I'm sure one of the more experienced planters can give you a few more suggestions :good: but they are the more common ones that will be relatively easy to grow.

Azaezl is absolutely right. There are a few types of Java fern, which adds alot of variety. Take a look at the tropica website. You can also try Bolbitis heudelotii once you get the hang of things.

have a look at "Winderlove" its a different strain of java fern, looks like its got fingers cool looking plant. Also if you have got the patience "Ricias flutans" is a great plant if you can keep it on the wood with a hair net, needs allot of co2 tho.

just makes sure if you put java moss on the wood, its got a good flow going thoough it, to stop it stagnatting in the middle of a clump.

Also consider Pellia Monosolenium tenerum ... Tropica
you'll have a job growing it on bog wood, its much like riccia in that it doesnt attach its self only it sinks its a lovely plant but it does need to be tied and can get scruffy
