Just wonderinf what or if here is any that can live with no tank light just abit of natural sunlight. I will not go to fake plants! I know java moss would be ok, but want something to fill the tank out. Only a little 1ftx6x6.
Thanks,
Ben.

I have grown Hydrocotyle verticulata in a betta bowl with an indirect Northern exposure. That's not a lot of light. Granted, the growth wasn't miraculous, but it did sprout new leaves (over and underwater) and showed consistant growth.

I did change that bowl's water religiously and didn't have algae. But this has just been my experience.

Im not bothered about growth, just want soemthing that wont die! will look into Hydrocotyle verticulata.
Many thanks,
Ben.

Plants have been living with sunlight alone for a good few million years, so the answer to your question is all of them.

The issue is how intense is the sunlight, and for how long?

Dave.

Dave, try over 400 million years! With flowering plants being around for about 125 million. I think he meant what could survive indoors with no tank light and just window exposure or ambient lighting? Indoors can get complicated with regard to light intensity. What looks bright to us is really quite dim. Which is why I gave the exposure and location of the light in my answer.

Nice seeing you again. :good:
