have just bought a collection of plants from a well known retailer online,
i have never seen such a sorry escuse for plants
some plants are one stem
some have no roots
they have no way of identifying them
do yourself a favour go to your lfs
you can see what your getting!!

mate your aloud to mention the company if you wish or at least hint at it Lol.

Im saw others will be able to tell you if this is the norm for them or if you have a right to complain.

Most of the bigger places, Java and greenline provide good quality stuff at good prices. Would be surprised if they sent you some cr*p goods.

Take a little care before you slate online companies and make generic comments across board.

Some website clearly state that plants may come with little (or no roots) - and advise you to float them first etc.
Many are only 1 stem and you pay per stem. Absolutely nothing unusual there.

And many of the cheaper collections are sold without seperate identifications. It depends entirely on what you bought or were lead to believe to buy.

I'd fully agree that you have a right to expect plants in decent condition, however once you've checked the 'small print' (as advised above) your first action should be to complain to the retailer. Most will happily replace poor or damaged plants.
If possible take pics of the plants, so you can back up your claim.

I would disagree with your 'go to your LFS' statement. Unless your LFS is the exception to the rule !

Try places like those already mentioned and Birstall garden centre (for Tropica plants).

Also as of today Aqua Essential has also started to sell plants online. Everything else AE supply is of good quality, so I can't imagine their plant selection to be any less impressive.

I've even had plants shipped from Malaysia and they've been in good condition. I'd still maintain unless you are very lucky (with respect to LFS), ordering online is the best place to get plants in the UK !

tropical-aquarium-plants.co.uk is fantastic, i recieve top rate plants from them! and they come in such fantastic condition!

I think its a matter of building up a relationship with someone at your LFS someone who has an interest in this aspect of the hobby and is keen to get you what you want! So maybe they dont stock what you want but you can be sure any decent aquarium store will add your plants to their next order! they want your business so why wouldnt they? I get the impression that online suppliers dont hold stock they simply order to demmand (maybe im wrong?). I dont see any difference in ordering on line or waiting a week for your LFS to get plants in to order and of course if your visiting your LFS you get to veiw the fish and accessories at your leisure. Maybe im just lucky My LFS has been a huge help and have supplied me almost everything I have ever needed. Ive never had to order plants on line but have occassionaly had to wait, a small price to pay for what i want! This is not a pop at online stores im sure they ( you know who THEY are) offer an equally good service/product I JUST LOVE GOING TO THE FISH SHOP!
