what do the colour of the leaves look maybe if its not dark green maybe more light

I have two plants in mine, ones a fern which is doing good, the other i dont know its name....but its red, and its definately not looking too good, the leaves are turning green.....which i presume will then go yellow and then brown and fall off. Maybe it doesnt like the heat i have it at whilst cycling.

This thread should really be in the planted section but some answers as far as I can tell from descriptions.

To the OP plants often get a fur coat of algae even in tanks where people are really high tec and add ferts, CO2, Nutrients, have ideal lighting and also ideal substrate, so if it looks like fur then I wouldn't worry too much.

If you want to get rid of it naturally then ottos, bristlenose plecs, shrimps and mollys can help you get rid of it or at least keep it under control.

To the post above. Red plants are normally red when they are under high lighting and because they go green/yellow doesn't always mean they are dying, just that under low light that they are going a different colour. Some plants like Rotala Macrandra will die under low light, whereas Ludwigia Repens will just go yellow under low light.

If the plant is dying you will be able to tell because the leaves will go mushy and brown.

My lights pretty bright.

Its a sunglo one. But i want one with a purple tinge to it, aqua glo i think...
