I got some plants today and there in pots. i thought u had to take them out of the pots, but when i tried the plants were individual and just pulled out, I couldnt get them back in the pot and couldnt plant them single, they just kept floating up.

So i planted the other in the pot, its quite large and wont go under my substrate. will this be ok.

this is the pic:

If they come out individually it's probably a stem plant.
Take them out of the pot and poke them as deep as you can into the substrate.

Keeping them in a pot isn't a good idea.
If they float up try placing stone around them to hold them in place.
Don't use lead weights.

they are like a stem when i pull them out, but no roots at bottom???? how can i tie anything to them.

just try to get the stems buried deep in your substrate so that they stay. Use both hands, if necessary. In a week or two, they plant will begin rooting.

The pot will become well overgrown, and the plant will usually eventually die back after growing for a few months in it. Using a pot like that defeats some of the benefits of having plants in the tank anyway (you will have no extensive root system in the substrate, which would eat up lots of yummy nitrogenous waste like fish poo and uneaten fish food).

Just gently pull away most of the rock wool trying not to break the main roots, and it should easily stay in the gravel/sand when pushed down, assuming it's a decent depth.

However, the plant appears to be Limnophila aromatica (info link here) so it's unlikely to thrive in your tank anyway unless you have above average lighting and a decent supply of CO2. Full plant shots required for an ID confirmation :good:.
